1. Scope and identity

This Policy explains how State Audio handles personal information in connection with state.audio, AmpStudio, State Audio customer accounts, licence activation, downloads and support. In this Policy, State Audio, we, us and our mean the Australian business operating under the State Audio name.

State Audio is an Australian business operating under the registered State Audio name. State Audio uses this Policy as its operational privacy standard.

2. Information we may collect

Depending on how you interact with State Audio, we may collect:

  • identity and contact information, such as name, email address, country and account details;
  • purchase and entitlement information, such as Paddle customer and transaction references, product, price, tax status, refund status and licence history;
  • activation information, such as product version, device identifier, operating system, activation status and relevant security events;
  • download and website information, such as IP address, request time, requested page, browser or device type and server security logs;
  • support information, such as messages, diagnostic details, screenshots, installer logs and crash reports you choose to provide;
  • privacy, security, transfer and account-recovery requests and the evidence reasonably required to process them.

State Audio does not need or request payment-card details. Paddle processes payment information under its own privacy terms.

3. How information is collected

Information may be collected directly when you create an account, activate software, contact support or submit a request; automatically through website, account and licence systems; or from Paddle when a purchase, refund, dispute or related transaction event occurs.

AmpStudio will not collect unrelated project files or musical content merely because it is installed. Diagnostic or crash material should be limited to what is relevant to the reported issue.

4. Why information is used

State Audio may use information to:

  • create and secure accounts;
  • deliver trials, purchases, downloads, activations and licence transfers;
  • verify entitlements and maintain offline-verifiable licence records;
  • provide product, compatibility, installation and account support;
  • process or reconcile refunds, chargebacks, fraud and security events;
  • maintain, diagnose and improve product reliability and customer experience;
  • protect customers, State Audio and its systems from misuse;
  • comply with accounting, tax, consumer, legal and regulatory obligations;
  • send service communications and, where permission or law permits, requested product news.

State Audio does not sell personal information or use customer musical work to train artificial-intelligence systems.

5. Website technologies

The current public State Audio website does not intentionally use advertising trackers. Hosting infrastructure may create ordinary server and security logs. When Paddle Checkout is added, Paddle may use cookies or similar technologies necessary for checkout, fraud prevention, payment and buyer support under Paddle's privacy information.

If State Audio adds analytics, advertising or optional tracking, this Policy and any required consent controls will be updated before that use begins.

6. When information may be shared

State Audio may disclose relevant information to service providers that support:

  • Paddle checkout, merchant-of-record services, payments, tax, refunds and buyer support;
  • website and infrastructure hosting;
  • State Audio account, licensing and activation systems;
  • email, customer support, security, diagnostics and incident response;
  • professional accounting, legal and compliance work;
  • a lawful authority where disclosure is required or authorised by law.

Providers receive only the information reasonably required for their role and are expected to handle it under appropriate contractual, confidentiality and security obligations.

7. Overseas processing

Some providers may process or store information outside Australia, including in locations identified in their privacy information. Paddle's privacy information describes its processing for checkout and buyer services. You may contact State Audio for more information about the providers relevant to your information.

8. Retention and deletion

State Audio retains information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described here, including active account and entitlement delivery, offline ownership records, support, security, fraud prevention, transaction reconciliation and legal or accounting obligations.

Transaction and licence-transfer audit records may need to remain after an account closes so ownership, refunds, fraud and legal obligations can be resolved. State Audio periodically reviews retained information and deletes or anonymises it when it is no longer reasonably required.

9. Access, correction and choices

You may contact State Audio to request access to or correction of personal information, ask about deletion or account closure, object to or restrict certain processing where applicable, withdraw optional marketing consent, or make a privacy complaint.

Some information cannot be deleted immediately where it must be retained for transactions, entitlement ownership, fraud prevention, security or law. State Audio will explain any applicable limitation.

10. Security

State Audio uses reasonable technical and organisational safeguards appropriate to the information and risk. Account passwords are not stored inside AmpStudio. Activation should use short-lived authentication and a secure local entitlement rather than repeated password collection.

No online system is completely risk-free. If you suspect account misuse or a security issue, contact security@state.audio.

11. Children

State Audio products and accounts are not directed to children who cannot legally manage their own purchase or account. A parent, guardian or authorised organisation should manage the purchase where required.

12. Privacy complaints

Send a clear description to privacy@state.audio. State Audio will acknowledge and investigate the matter and explain the outcome or next steps. Where applicable, you may also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner or another privacy regulator available to you.

13. Changes to this Policy

State Audio will update this Policy when its products, providers, data practices or legal obligations change. The effective date will identify the current version. Material changes will be communicated through an appropriate website, account or email notice.
